According to the information provided by IMD (Indian Metrological Department), a low pressure area that formed over the Bay of Bengal will likely to convert into a very severe cyclonic storm.

The low pressure over east central Bay of Bengal and north Andaman sea will go under Depression by 23rd may and likely to intensify into cyclone by 24th may. During landfall this will be more intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm.

Cyclone Yaas will move to north-west direction and imagined to hit between Bhadrak to Balasore on 26th may, Wednesday.

Due to Cyclone Yaas, some coastal districts of Odisha are going to face heavy rainfall from 25th may. The windspeed also gradually as the cyclone comes nearer to land areas.

Coastal areas will experience 40- 50 km per hour wind speed by 25th evening. This speed will increase up to 155- 165 km per hour during landfall.

Cyclone Yaas is expected to be weak by 27th morning. So the effects of Cyclone Yaas will be from 26th morning to midnight in land areas.

Cyclone Yaas: Odisha Government on high alert

Central & State governments are taking all necessary steps to tackle the cyclone and no to lost any lives. District administrators are creating public awareness and preparing cyclone safety shelters for non-domiciles.

State Govt. ordered all coastal district administrators to be prepared for rescue operation and post cyclone relief. ODRAF and NDRF teams are fully ready for helping people.

It will be very top for the state to manage the cyclone under Covid-19 Pandemic Condition.

The district and sub-divisional hospitals will have alternate power back up and generators for possible electric disruption. Oxygen supply & production will not be disturbed in Covid Care Centers (CCC) bcz of the Cyclone Yaas in Odisha. This is informed by SRC Pradeep Jena.

Fishermens are not allowed to go into the central Bay of Bengal till May 27. Indian Coast Guards are awaiting them about the cyclone and not to go for fishing.
